Katie & Tim
Katie and Tim had been trying to conceive for more than ten years when they heard about the documentary and met
Dr. Swan. Katie was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) but they still didn’t have a clear medical explanation for their infertility. They committed fully — cleaning up their diet, reducing plastic food packaging and swapping out personal care and household products known to increase exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals. Katie overhauled her skincare and makeup routines. Tim, whose car often doubled as his office and lunchroom, focused on replacing fast food and takeout, a major source of phthalate exposure due to plastic packaging and food handling materials.
AFTER THE INTERVENTION
Despite their efforts, Katie’s phthalate levels spiked late in the study and Tim’s declined only slightly. Phthalates are non-persistent yet constantly replenished, meaning exposure can rebound quickly from hidden sources at home or work, sometimes undoing weeks of careful changes. Today, Katie and Tim continue to Unplastic Their Lives to protect their health and any future child.
