Kate & Erik

Erik and Kate had been trying to conceive for about two years when they met Dr. Swann and joined the intervention. Both of them were always aware of exposure to chemicals, but the intervention revealed the unexpected exposure throughout their home. The first changes they made were in the kitchen, where it was easy to make simple and affordable swaps.

They learned that warming foods stored in plastic containers increased releasing toxic chemicals into their leftovers. It was an easy swap to using glass storage containers for leftovers. They swapped out sponges, and replacing plastic utensils for wooden ones. They swapped their plastic pitcher for a large glass jar for water. In the bathroom, they removed the plastic shower curtain liner with one containing natural fibers.

AFTER THE INTERVENTION

Like many couples, they focused on removing fragrance items, from cleaning products to personal care products. They both continue to use unscented soaps and both of them eliminated single-use water bottles. Kate continues to avoid body sprays and perfumes.
